Trying Something Different

My youngest son has been having minor stomach aches regularly for quite a while. After I started questioning him about what he thought gave him pains, it seemed wheat was the common denominator. So we are trying a little experiment and going wheat-free over the month of March to see if this alleviates his stomach complaints.

He wasn't a huge fan of this wheat-free oatmeal bread I made for him, but he tried some special tortillas and didn't seem to mind those. This entire week, he hasn't had one stomach complaint... hmmm..... time will tell, I suppose.

After two weeks of school break, I am ready to get back to normal routine. It's amazing what a difference two weeks off can make. Even though the kids aren't talking about it, I think everyone will appreciate getting back into regular life.

On My Side Table

I thought I was going to get a ton of reading in over the past break, but it just didn't happen. I have been going through another book from the IBCD recommended reading list, however, called Blame It On The Brain. It has been very interesting, and I think it will be very helpful. Even though it's not a large book and doesn't claim to be comprehensive by any means when it comes to brain injury or mental illness, it does offer some helpful information. It attempts to answer questions like "Is it ever legitimate to blame misbehavior on the brain?" Can we distinguish brain issues from heart issues? Through the lens of Scripture, Edward Welch tries to offer some practical helps to people who may be dealing with difficulties and challenges in this arena.
