School's Out!

School break has officially begun for us. Our schedule isn't nearly as busy as it was last year during break time during our furlough in Canada. But so far, it has been super productive and a perfect chance to re-organize things and clean up around here.

To commemorate the end of our school year, we took a short weekend away at a cottage in the countryside. Weather being on the cool side, we spent much of the time inside the quaint cottage by the woodstove. The sun shone the entire time though! So we enjoyed walking the trails, enjoying fresh air and beautiful scenery. Nearby, only a 5-minute boat ride away, we also visited a lemur park. These lemurs were very friendly, climbed all over us, and the kids were delighted to carry them around.
They liked to lick us and purr in our ears.....

Along our trail walks, we discovered this iron gate in the middle of the hillside. Indicating private property, but nicknamed the "Narnia Gate" by my kids.

We also celebrated Madagascar's Independance day at the end of June with fireworks, much to my husband's excitement. Any chance to buy fireworks, he'll take it. The kids were old enough this year to hold some; it was extra fun for them.
